Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
James 1:17 KJV
I'm tired of the rain. I'm tired of damp. I'm tired of grey skies. Thankfully, they're predicting some sunshine by the weekend. Please, God, let there be some sunshine soon! The weather in Houston seems to be confused with Seattle's weather patterns. Rain, rain, rain. It's rained at least 57 days of the last 3 months. It rained yesterday and today and they're calling for more rain tomorrow. Highly unusual for us.
I understand and value the importance of rain, but not when, right now, you could waterski in my front and back yard. Winds are light and variable and then not so light! And speaking of light - I will admit the other day there seemed to be a strange light in the sky for about an hour-and-a-half! It was partly sunny for just a bit and then the rain was back - blowing sideways from those "light and variable" winds!
In spite of all that, there is a Light that shines when the sun does not. One in whom there is no variableness. He does not change with the weather or the seasons. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. A sure foundation. Something we can count on, no matter the storms of life. And when the wind of the Holy Spirit blows, it does not destroy. It brings a refreshing. I am so thankful that we can look to the Master of the wind, to the Father of lights to know what tomorrow will bring.
Prayer:
Father,
Thank You for reminding us who You are and who we are in You. Thank You for Your faithfulness to us in every situation. Thank You for Your Word to be the Light for our path. Shine on us, Father. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
