Get Going

“All right,” the angel said, “I will grant your request. I will not destroy the little village. But hurry! Escape to it, for I can do nothing until you arrive there.” (This explains why that village was known as Zoar, which means “little place.”)
Genesis 19:21-22 NLT

I've read this story (Genesis 19:15-29) more times than I can remember, but it leapt out at me today regarding the parallels of our lives today.

Think about this. You're praying for the salvation and protection of someone you care about OR someone is praying for yours (as Abraham did in Genesis 18:23-33). (You or) They are in a bad place. Things are not good. You trust the Lord with it and leave it in His hands because the Truth is - you can't change them or the situation. Only God can.

Maybe it's us. Maybe we're in a bad situation through choices we made... Don't discount God's all-encompassing love. He sends a way out, although sometimes we miss it. However, He is persistent (Gen 19:15-16) and gets us out. God wants us to run to the mountain top, but often, we insist on staying low (vvs 17-22). He instructs us to leave, to keep moving forward and don't look back, but we just can't seem to resist that one look back. And poof! We're a pillar of salt. Dead in our tracks.

Don't do it. Don't look back. Why do we think we will miss what will eventually kill us?!? God is holy. He will deliver us. He will forgive us, but He does not abide willful sin. He lovingly provides the way out (1st Corinthians 10:13). Get going!

Prayer:

Father,
Open our hearts and minds to hear and receive Your instruction. Help us to see past the lies and false promises of the world. Reset our priorities and guide us into Your Truths. Help us to move forward, Father, always forward! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
