Psalm 127:1-2 ESV
Have we got our priorities in the proper order? I would encourage each of us to examine ourselves - the time we spend building the house versus the time we spend building our relationship with the Lord. We can work ourselves into the grave worrying about working enough hours to pay the bills, etc. (anxious toil). Worry is the antithesis of trusting God. The Bible teaches us that without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God.
If we want to work, let's work on getting our priorities straight. Put God first in everything, then and only then will everything else fall into place. If you never have enough hours in a day, I promise you that time sown in building your relationship with God will reap a harvest of the most productive use of the remaining hours in the day.
Put God first in all things. Otherwise, it's all in vain.
Prayer:
Father,
Open our eyes of understanding to see that worrying is choosing to not trust You in all things. Forgive us, O God, for trusting in our own labor. We do not want to be cursed for trusting in our own strength (Jeremiah 17:5). Turn our hearts toward You in all things, Father. Holy Spirit, guide us into all Truth. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
