Colossians 3:8-10 NKJV
Have you ever heard or said something like, "That's just the way I am" or "I've always been this way" or perhaps, "I have a bad temper - that's just how I am"? What is it about change that we resist - whether good or bad?
If there was something wrong with our physical bodies - for example, our heart - most of us would see a doctor to get help, right? Would we then do what the doctor prescribed in order to live?
What about when there is something wrong with our spiritual heart? Why won't we seek help from the Great Physician - the One Who is also our Creator? Why do we resist what He has prescribed for us in order to live abundantly? Come! Let us put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of our mouths. Do not lie to one another, since we have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created us.
Prayer:
Father,
Change our hearts, O God! Only You can change our hearts to be like Christ. We pray to be less and less so that Christ will be more and more evident within us. Help us to see that piercing our hearts lets out the bad. And please make us new by Your Holy Spirit as You've promised in Your Word. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
