Do They Know?

By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.
John 13:35 NASB

Several years ago, Tim Tebow created controversy in the NFL by writing "John 3:16" under his eyes. The NFL had a conniption over it, trying to stop Christians from bringing in signs of it. Not showing players praying, etc. In effect, declaring that players and coaches should keep their faith to themselves. And it worked for the most part.

However, what I LOVE is that when there's a crisis (like Damar Hamlin's) those same people want people who have a relationship with the Lord to pray for them. I was SO glad to see Christians in the NFL stand up (and kneel down) to pray without caring about any consequences! They knew they needed a miracle from God to save Mr. Hamlin's life. I love the ESPN analyst who stopped and prayed earnestly while on air - and they didn't cut to a commercial... That was miraculous!

It's been said repeatedly since then that they didn't know so-and-so or the other ones were Christians, but there they were praying. (Praise God!) I've been thinking a lot about it. Do the people within our sphere of influence KNOW we are Christians? I'm not talking about preaching to them or "shoving it down their throats". I'm talking about living our relationship with the Lord in the light of day.

Heart Check: Does a lost and hurting world know that we are Christ's disciples because of our love for one another?

Prayer:

Father,
Thank You that we can come boldly to Your throne of Grace when we are in need. Thank You for the opportunities to stand in the gap for those who may not yet have a relationship with You. Father, please let Your light burn brightly within us, and let us be known for Your love that we have for one another. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
