But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago. They are constantly in my thoughts. I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works. O God, your ways are holy.
Is there any god as mighty as you? You are the God of great wonders!
Psalm 77:11-14a NLT
I believe it was Ashleigh Brilliant who said, “I try to take it one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.” Have you ever felt like that? I know I have. That mindset is much more noticeable in people since this pandemic started and the enemy of our soul just loves to jump right in with both feet and try to pile on. We can't let that happen. So don't!
Make the effort to count your blessings. I guarantee there are multiples, but if you're having a hard time, start with one. You're breathing, aren't you? More? You can read. More? You are reading this on a device that can connect with the world. You get the idea. In Isaiah 61:3, God promises beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness...
Praising God will lift your spirit. Be intentional about it!
Philippians 4:8 NLT tells us, And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. In The Passion Translation, it reads, And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always.
Go ahead! Express your gratitude to Him for all His wondrous deeds on your behalf. Instead of pining for what you don't have or for what you're missing, give God praise that you had _____________ for as long as you did! I challenge you to recall what God has done for you and praise Him for it!
Prayer:
Father,
We pray as King David prayed, Let all that we are praise You, Lord; with our whole heart, we will praise Your holy name. Let all that we are praise the Lord; may we never forget the good things You do for us. You forgive all our sins and heal all our diseases. You redeem us from death and crown us with love and tender mercies. You fill our lives with good things. Give us grateful hearts, O God. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
