Nurse and Rehearse

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!
Psalm 42:11

Listening to the news, reading social media, perusing the headlines - literally everywhere you look, the news is discouraging. We live in a hurting world and their needs can sometimes feel overwhelming! And when we talk about it repeatedly with others, nursing and rehearsing all the bad, it just drives it deeper into our spirit.

I believe I've mentioned a quote I heard decades ago on a Marilyn Hickey broadcast. She was talking about sharing God with a lost and dying world and said, "If your outgo exceeds your income, your general upkeep will be your downfall." Do we fail to realize that if we continue to pour Christ into others and don't make the refill daily, we will get worn down? It's why we get discouraged; why we are so sad. 

It's too easy to get caught up in all that! We must put our hope in God! We must choose to praise Him again! If you want to nurse and rehearse things - make it the things of the Lord!

Prayer:

Father,

           We are forever grateful for the hope of our salvation in Christ; for the hope of Heaven; for the hope of eternity with You. Thank You for providing all of these things and so much more. Help us to keep our hearts and minds focused on that which is good - that comes from only You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.
