Proverbs 14:4 NLT
In the days before tractors and combines, farmers knew they had to have oxen to plow the ground to plant and produce crops. They might have liked to have a clean stable, but that wasn't conducive to making a living. If you're going to make a living, there's going to be work to do and some cleanup to do along the way.
We have that same correlation in our Christian walk. We'd like for life to not be messy. And it might not be if we never let people into our lives. We could keep everything clean and neat and in order. However, we are not called to live an isolated life. We're called to serve others and to love them. We're here to do our living by the Grace of God so that others will want Him, too. However, when we let people in, and they have problems and stuff they're dealing with, it can get messy. Sometimes, we might wish we had a clean stable instead of dealing with all that...
But then I think back to Bethlehem, where in a dirty stable with livestock and other critters and all their mess, Jesus was born to redeem us from all our mess.
Prayer:
Father,
Thank You for sending Your Son to save us. Give us Your strength and compassion so that we represent Christ the way You planned for us to do. We want to love as You love us. Help us to walk in Your mercy and grace and to fully extend both to those You have placed within our sphere of influence. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
