It's Just Not the End Yet...

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Isaiah 61:2-4 NKJV

When I was a kid, I loved the song by Neil Diamond titled, "Song Sung Blue". It spoke of feeling blue and turning it into a song, starting to feel good, and singing the blues away. When I got a little older, I realized the premise was found in Isaiah 61:3 - The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. And that we really can sing away the spirit of heaviness.

Today was a heavy day. The only comfort for my soul has been in acknowledging God in all of it. Songs that help me to focus on the eternal faithfulness and goodness of God and knowing that in Him, it will all come out right in the end. And knowing that it's just not the end yet...

Bob Benson said, "There has to be a song. There are too many dark nights, too many troublesome days, and too many wearisome miles. Somewhere deep in the forgotten corner of one’s heart - there has to be a song. Like a cool, clear drink of water and like the gentle warmth of sunshine, and like the tender love of a child, there has to be a song!"

Songs like:
Cece Winan - Goodness of God and Worthy of It All

and
Charity Gayle - I Speak Jesus

What are your go-tos?

Prayer:

Father,
          Thank You for music. Thank You for songs. Thank you for the promise of relief from heavy hearts! Thank You that You alone are always worthy of our praise. Open our hearts and minds to see Your goodness in all things. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
