Stand Firm

He [God] made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.
This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.
But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it.

Colossians 1:19b-23a NLT

God wants a relationship with us. With you. With me. The Creator of the universe. That God. And He made it so we could have one with Him. Before Jesus, it was nigh on impossible; but since Christ's death and resurrection, we are able to go into the very presence of God and stand before him without a single fault... holy and blameless...

There is one condition - you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it.

Even in the Old Testament, King Jehoshaphat said, Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm.

There are many trials, tests and tribulations that come at us. The enemy of our soul wants to destroy our face-to-face relationship with God. Paul warns us in 1st Corinthians, Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And instructs us again in Ephesians to Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. All strategies. All.

In his second letter to the Corinthians, Paul writes, It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us. AND guarantees that we have everything we need to accomplish what He has set before us to do for His will and His purpose.

The only way to stand firm in a relationship with an Almighty God - to become His child - is through Emmanuel (God with us). Jesus makes it so we can stand in His presence. Will you?

Prayer:

Father,
We want to see You. We want to stand in Your presence - holy and blameless - through Christ our Lord. Remind us always to stand firm. Holy Spirit, teach us how to walk in right relationship. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
