However, Peter said to him, “I don’t have any money, but I’ll give you what I do have. Through the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, walk!” Peter took hold of the man’s right hand and began to help him up. Immediately, the man’s feet and ankles became strong. Springing to his feet, he stood up and started to walk. He went with Peter and John into the temple courtyard. The man was walking, jumping, and praising God.
Acts 3:6-8 GWT
This is a man who had been carried to the gate Beautiful...every day...so he could beg. Just think about that for a moment. Try to put yourself in that position. Every day, carried by others to the Temple courtyard. Every day - all day - being left there to beg alms from the same people who showed up - every day - at the 3 o'clock prayer meeting... (if you read down to verse 10 - they all knew the beggar, too!) Every day - calling out "Alms for the poor!" "Alms for the poor!"
What've you got to give? I'm certain after not too long, people avoided eye contact - wouldn't look at him - didn't "see" him. We've all been guilty of it - especially if we've got something to give, but we're choosing to buy the burger and fries or the grande at the coffee shop.
Pay attention - what've you got? Are you free to give it? If not, GET free! Peter did and told him so! "Look here! I don't have what you're asking for, but I'll give you everything I've got which is everything you'll ever need!" Is that what YOU'VE got? Is that what you'll give?
Prayer:
Father,
Birth a new desire for Your Word in our hearts and the understanding to know how to apply it, and where and when to share it! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
