Reminder - Take the Heat

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, "My child, don't make light of the Lord's discipline, and don't give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child." No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it's painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
Hebrews 12:5-6,11 NLT

Sometimes life seems like a slow roast. All we see or feel is the fire - for a LONG time. We don't want it. We don't like it, but can we be used for our purpose without going through the fire? Think about it. What good is an uncooked chunk of meat if it's just in a pot with raw potatoes and other vegetables and spices and there's no roasting? Can it be used for its purpose without the fire? Can it be as good if it's only in the fire for a half-hour? No, it has to be in the fire for the full amount of time.

Likewise, God is not a microwave. I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be cooked to perfection. 1st Peter 1:6-7 in the New Living Translation reads, "So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world."

I want to be fit for His purpose. I don't want to be pulled from the fire because I couldn't take the heat.

Prayer:

Father,
As it is in Your Word, Isaiah 43:2, we trust You when we go through deep waters, that You will be with us. When we go through rivers of difficulty, we will not drown. When we walk through the fire of oppression, we will not be burned up; the flames will not consume us. You are in control and You are trustworthy. We want to bring You praise and glory and honor. We choose You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
