Arguing with God

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2nd Timothy 3:16-17 NIV

You can't believe everything you read. You can't believe everything you hear. And with all the advanced technology, you can't even believe all the "pictures" that you see. What can you believe?

The Word of God.

However, there are those who would argue that the Bible contradicts itself. I disagree. For the Bible to contradict itself would mean that God is capable of errors... and He is NOT. The example referenced by most is that of the demise of Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus. Matthew tells us in 27:5 that Judas hanged himself.  Luke tells us in Acts 1:18 that Judas fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. Which is it? Actually, both are accurate.

Do you remember the movie in 2008 called Vantage Point? It was about different people telling completely different perspectives of the same assassination attempt. Sam principle for Judas's end. How did Judas die? Matthew, the tax collector, tells the fact - he hung himself. Luke, the physician, describes the death in detail as to what happened when they cut the body down after he'd hung there for at least 24-36 hours in the hot sun and the stomach lining had started to decompose and become bloated, so when the body hit the ground, it burst open in the middle. Same story.

The Word of God is TRUTH. It is the standard by which we as Christians live. It is trustworthy. It does not contradict itself because God cannot contradict Himself. Don't argue with Him. You will lose.

Prayer:

Father,
Open our spiritual eyes to see You. Open our ears to hear You. Open our hearts to receive Your Truth. Birth it deep within us, Father, and let it take root and bring forth a harvest to prepare us to complete Your purpose in our lives. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
