See the Eternal

That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
2nd Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT

We are dying from the moment we are born. That statement could easily be misconstrued as pessimistic or a very dismal viewpoint of life but that's not it. It's just a reality of the life cycle that we don't like. In truth, it's just the first part. The temporary part. The temporary part of life where the choices we make determine our eternal, forever part.

So, do we let the small present troubles that are temporary hinder our eternity or can we give God thanks for them since they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever? Life, as we know it here, will soon be over. Are we able to fix our eyes and our hearts on Heaven - that which is eternal?

Prayer:

Father,
Help us to understand the connection between the temporary and the eternal parts of life. Thank You for being the omniscient and omnipotent, eternal God. Help us to see and grasp that losses here are only temporary when we are found in You. Bring all of our unsaved loved ones to the knowledge, understanding and acceptance of Your saving grace. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
