What's On Your Mind

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Philippians 4:8 NLT

Every day, we interact with people who are not happy - a coworker, a cashier, a custodian. They're upset with the job, the family, the car, whatever. It all amounts to stinking thinking and they come around to share it with us. If we are not diligent, we can get that same mindset.

The question then is how important is it to stay focused on what is true, and honorable, and right and pure, etc? Well, according to Scripture, it's the difference between life and death. Read Romans 8:5-6, Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

So... what's on YOUR mind? Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Prayer: 

Father,
          We look to Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith, to complete the work in us. Give us the courage and strength to fix our thoughts. Holy Spirit, please come and rule in our hearts and minds and keep us from stinking thinking. In Jesus' Name we pray.
