Walking *

[The Lord God said] Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people.Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you.
Jeremiah 7:23 NIV

My sister is here for a visit and we are excited to be together for Thanksgiving. We have both been making healthier lifestyle choices, so we're making choices now in order to not overeat on Thursday. To make it work, it takes some planning and commitment. In addition, her plan includes 10,000 intentional steps a day.

When she's at home, two-thirds of her steps are accomplished at work. Here, we're on vacation. There's not a lot of work going on... Chelle's commitment is strong, though. She has learned that taking a lap around the perimeter of the beach parking lot equals 1,000 steps. Vacation or not, around she goes - walking intentionally, committedly, and with purpose. I'm so proud of her!

The Word of God has much to say about our walking - especially for those who choose to walk blameless and in obedience to His Word. Lots of promises with regard to walking in His ways. He promises long life (1 Kings 3:14), to prosper us in all we do (Psalm 128:1-2) and to be with us (1 Kings 11:38).

When it comes to walking in His ways, are we as intentional, committed, and on purpose with our walk? We definitely should be. Keep walking.

Prayer:

Father,
According to Your Word - we want to walk in the light, as You are in the light, so we may have fellowship with one another. Purify us from our sin, Lord. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
