When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:13-16 NKJV
Have you ever stopped to define exactly who or what Jesus is to you? I mean, in your own words - based on your history with Him; your relationship?
Is He more than an icon of the church? More than the Man whose body is depicted on the Cross? Who is He to you in the good times of your life? Is He different for you in the bad times? Do you talk to Him more in the bad times than you do in the good times - or vice versa?
Is He more than words on the pages of your Bible? Is He more than Someone you read about? Is He more than the One we sing about at church? Have you ever personally sung Him a love song?
How many times has He just shown up with exactly what you needed when you had no idea how it could or would happen?
He is indeed the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Do you have favorite memories of Him?
He is indeed the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Do you have favorite memories of Him?
What do you say - Who do you think He is? Who is He to you?
Prayer:
Father,
There are so many imitations, substitutions, false representations of You and Your precious Son. Open the eyes of Your people to see You, to know You for who You are. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
