Beauty for Ashes

Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth...
“Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die. But I will confirm my covenant with you. So enter the boat—you and your wife and your sons and their wives."
Genesis 6:9b-10, 17-18 NLT

We know the story of building the Ark and the Great Flood and Noah, but I never realized before that Noah was the ONLY blameless person living on earth at the time. The Word doesn't say Noah's family was the only blameless family, it says Noah... just Noah. The only one and yet his wife, their 3 sons and their wives were all saved.

Do you sometimes wonder what good it does to be the only one in your family following the Lord? Do you ever wonder if your Christian walk has any effect on anyone other than you? Any effect on the world? Well, according to our text for today, I see the entire human race being preserved because of one person who did not compromise his walk with God.

Who's to say if your walk with the Lord may be the only thing standing between those you love and total destruction? Does it sometimes feel as though your life is in ashes around you? God promises us beauty for ashes. Don't quit now. We're too close to the finish line.

Father,
We bow before You, bringing praise and glory and honor to You. Help us to stand and when we've done everything we know to do, help us to still stand. Help us to know and understand that the difference You make in our lives may make the eternal difference in the life of those we know and love. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.
