“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
1 Peter 5:5-7 NLT
What does it mean to dress yourself in humility? Obviously, to not be a pretentious know-it-all. To not be arrogant. It is God who gives us knowledge and understanding when we follow Him. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom. So we have no reason to be prideful in what we know. By the same token, to dress in humility does not mean to dumb it down, either. We are to have the mind of Christ - selfless, Servant Leader, obedient heart and mind, and humble.
Humbling ourselves under God's hand means trusting Him in all things. Worry and care occur when we try to figure out how WE are going to fix things. The world may see being humble as a negative act of self-denial, but the Truth is it's a positive choice to be resolutely dependent on God for help in all things.
Prayer:
Father,
Thank You that every good and perfect gift comes directly from You and is the plan for our lives. Thank You for taking what the enemy means for bad and making it work for our good. Help us to remember that ALL things work together for our good when we trust You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
