Making Room

You used to do them when your life was still part of this world; but now is the time to cast off and throw away all these rotten garments of anger, hatred, cursing, and dirty language.

Colossians 3:7-8 The Living Bible

Most women (and some men) have three sizes of clothes in their closets - what they wear now, what they used to wear, and what they hope to wear someday. If you approach that logically, it means that two-thirds of the closet is taken up by things you'll never wear. (Just a helpful household hint for those who think they don't have enough closet space.)

What does that have to do with our promise for today? Well, often I hear folks say, "I just want more of God in my life." That is great and it sounds good, but if we are completely honest with ourselves, what are we willing to give up in order to make room for more of God in our lives? 

Why not start with today's word - throw away all these rotten garments of anger, hatred, cursing, and dirty language? 

Prayer:

Father,

          Help us to clearly see and remove those things in our hearts and lives that are not pleasing to You so that there will be room for more of You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
