Don't Go Digging

Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
2nd Corinthians 5:14b-15 NLT

I love this Scripture. It is a strong foundational stone, pivotal - life-changing for those who get it! ...We have all DIED to our old life! Dead. Gone. What do we do with something that is dead? Get rid of it. We bury it!

Here in the south, many of our homes are pier and beam - up off the ground. Sometimes, a critter will get up under there and die and if we don't get it out, it is awful! It starts to decay and break down immediately. It stinks and it is horrible, to say the least! You gag, trying to get it out from underneath the house to bag it and bury it or get it to the side of the road for the garbage pick up. Would anyone want to tell the story of it and then go dig it back up so you can look at it and smell it and experience it all over again? No way! Of course not!

Then why would we pull out the proverbial shovel and go digging for the remains of our old life? It STINKS! It's rotting - there's no life in it!! There isn't anything there that you need. And be assured, if, in the remotest chance that there IS something worth resurrecting, GOD will resurrect it in HIS timing. Stop being a grave digger!

Prayer:

Father,
Let any digging we do, be done in Your Word. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
