What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?
2nd Corinthians 6:16a NIV
There's been lots of news coverage this year on the Royal Family of England. Most people are at least vaguely aware that there is a certain protocol to be followed when meeting a member of any royal family. You may not know the list of all the do's and don'ts, but somewhere in the back of your mind, you acknowledge at least that there IS one. You may be uncertain whether you should bow (or curtsy), but you definitely would not spit in your palm and bellow, "Put 'er there, chum!" And most would not shriek or yell a prolonged, "Helloooooooooooooooooooooo" while standing in the throne room just to see if it would echo...and for how long. (Yes, I know a few who might, but I said 'most'). At any rate, you understand the point I'm making.
There are things you would do and things you would definitely not do. You're not going to bring cow pies in for coasters or dumpsters in for toy chests or storage cupboards. You're not going to offer bags of trash for soup ingredients. And if you were a silent observer in the throne room, it would be very easy to tell who took the time to learn and then follow protocol.
It's the same with our Christianity. If we're reading the Book, we know the rules. And those who are watching us, should be able to see AND hear that there is something different about us... isn't there?
Prayer:
Father,
Open our eyes to see Your Word and our hearts to know what You would have us do. Help us to be a TRUE witness for You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
