A Great Reminder - It is Finished

God wiped out the charges that were against us for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross. There Christ defeated all powers and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when he celebrated his victory.

At the Cross. That's where it happened. That's where Christ defeated ALL powers and forces. The King James reads that He "made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them..."

Where?!? At the Cross... You know as Christians we're fond of spouting that satan was defeated at the Cross. But do we know it? Do we believe it? Do we act like it?

Jim Mackey said something that was utterly profound in its most basic Truth and here it is. "We're not waiting to see who wins - We already know who wins - God!" He then painted a word picture of today's mindset - two forces running neck and neck, and we act like we're waiting to see who will be triumphant!

The Truth is - Jesus said, "It is finished!" No sequel. No do-over. No to-be-continued.

Prayer:

Father,
          Forgive us for not walking in the Truth of Your Triumph. Illuminate Your Truth to us. Help us to know it in our knower and walk in it. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen

It'll Get Done

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Philippians 1:6 NLT

One commentary I read had this observation:

Do you sometimes feel as though you aren't making progress in your spiritual life? When God starts a project, He completes it! As with the Philippians, God will help you grow in grace until He has completed His work in your life. 

When you are discouraged, remember that God won't give up on you.  He promises to finish the work He has begun. When you feel incomplete, unfinished, or distressed by your shortcomings, remember God's promise and provision. Don't let your present condition rob you of the joy of knowing Christ or keep you from growing closer to Him. 

Prayer:

Father, 

          Thank You for the promise that You will complete the work You began in us. We're counting on it, Lord, and asking for Your mercy and grace and the power of the Holy Spirit to walk it out in our lifetime. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
