Psalm 36

This prayer from Psalm 36 speaks to me and for me tonight. I hope it speaks to you, too.

5 Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.

6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord.

7 How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings.

8 You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.

9 For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.

10 Pour out your unfailing love on those who love you; give justice to those with honest hearts.

11 Don’t let the proud trample me or the wicked push me around.

Immutable

Then the Lord came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, 'Yahweh.' The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness."
Exodus 34:5-6 NLT

I've heard it the last couple of days, several times actually. "He's been faithful before; He'll be faithful again." It just didn't set right. Couldn't quite put my finger on it...

Then I heard it again this morning. "He's been faithful before; He'll be faithful again." Insinuating what - that He's not faithful now? Today? Based on what - our feelings? Because we can't see whatever it is that we want or asked for?

The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with UNFAILING LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS."

Unfailing faithfulness. His own Word. Immutable. Just a reminder...

Prayer:

Father,
           According to Your Word - You are the same yesterday, today and forever! It is impossible for You to lie. It is impossible for You to fail. Therefore, it is impossible that You would be anything other than faithful, no matter what we see, hear, say, or do. You are a faithful God. And we praise You in it and trust Your Word. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
