What is Your Motivation?

Remember to stay alert and hold firmly to all that you believe. Be mighty and full of courage. Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do.

These were the last instructions from Paul, and as such, should carry great weight. So we need to ask ourselves, "What motivates us?" Is it to have better things - job, car, home?  Is it self-serving, tit for tat? Do we choose our actions based on what will most benefit our own personal goals or desires?

The Apostle Paul instructs us to Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that [we] do.  Are they? Let's check our hearts. We need the Holy Spirit to reveal our motivation(s).

Prayer:

Father,

We humbly come before You and ask You to reveal our motivations. Change anything and everything that is not founded in Your love and kindness within us. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Teach us Your ways, O God. Restore a right spirit within us. Give us clean hands and pure hearts. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
