Mark 16:6b-7 NLT
Mark 16:14-19 provides the most details of the day Christ ascended back into Heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. Matthew 28:18-20 provides perhaps the most well-known but my favorite part of it all is in Mark 16:7...including Peter.
Peter the braggart - declared, “Even if everyone else deserts you, I will never desert you.” And “Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!”
Peter the slacker - sleeping in the Garden of Gethsemane, instead of praying and keeping watch.
Peter - the one who denied Jesus THREE different times that night following the Last Supper...just as Jesus said he would.
Verse 7, Now go and tell his disciples, including Peter... THAT Peter - the one who when he messed up, he messed up BIG time... go tell THAT Peter I'll see him in Galilee.
Gives you hope, doesn't it?
Prayer:
Father,
Thank You for the hope that can only come through Your precious Son. Just like You did with Peter on more than one occasion, bid us come to You. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
