Fix Your Eyes

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

I was listening to some old playlists tonight, when Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus  played. I love that old hymn. ♪♫ Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face and the things of Earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.♪♫

The lyric brought back to me a long-lost memory... Do you remember what it was like the first time you fell in love and the love of your life walked into the room? Everything else faded away out of your sight. Your world was bathed in a soft light of everything's right in the world and nothing else mattered.

Oh, that we would return to our first love as God beseeches us in Revelation 2:4! Where His face was what we sought. His Word our very breath. His presence a taste of Heaven on Earth where everything else faded away from sight and all seemed right because nothing else mattered. Do you remember?

Prayer:

Father,

Forgive us for getting caught up in the cares of life. We want to return to the passion of our first love with You. Rekindle the fire, Father! We want to fix our eyes on You! We want all the things of Earth to fade from our sight in the Light of Your glory and grace. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen
